Three eIDAS signature levels

Pick the right legal weight for each document
DokDesk supports the three eIDAS levels so you match the signature to the risk — a quick internal sign-off does not need the same weight as a high-value agreement.
Only a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) carries the legal effect of a handwritten signature across all EU member states (eIDAS Art. 25). DokDesk is built so qualified providers and EU eIDs can plug in for QES — it is not yet live in production.
- SES — Simple: cannot be denied legal effect just because it is electronic (eIDAS Art. 25(1)), but is not handwritten-equivalent.
- AES — Advanced: uniquely identifies the signer and links the signature to the document to protect its integrity.
- QES — Qualified: the only level equal to a wet signature EU-wide; Smart-ID is a certified Qualified Signature Creation Device.
- You decide the level per contract — the workflow stays the same.
- Each signed document records which level was used, so the evidence reflects the actual legal weight.
How identity is verified, and what we keep
Signers open a secure no-account secure link and sign — no password to leak, no extra app to install. The signing engine is built to verify identity through EU national eIDs rather than trusting an email click alone.
After signing, DokDesk stores a full evidence base for every signature, so when a contract is questioned you can show exactly what happened.
- Who signed — the signer's verified identity and email.
- When and how — timestamp plus the signature level and method used.
- IP and device metadata captured at the moment of signing.
- A complete audit trail of every action: sent, opened, signed.
- The signature status and the final document container, kept together.
Data stays in the EU, under GDPR
DokDesk is built for the Baltics and the EU, so contracts and their evidence are stored in the EU under GDPR — encrypted at rest, audit-logged and scoped by role. DokDesk is a contract workflow, not a law firm, and does not give legal advice; some national laws still require specific forms for certain deeds.
